The Seattle Mariners are hoping that Jack Wilson stays healthy in 2010

32-year old righty swinging Jack Wilson will be the starting shortstop for the Mariners in 2010. He played in 31 games for the Mariners last season and he was 24 for 107 (.224 avg, .562 OPS) with 11 runs scored, 1 homer, 8 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Wilson played in 106 games overall last season for the Mariners & Pirates and he was 95 for 373 (.255 avg, .654 OPS) with 37 runs scored, 5 homers, 39 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. The Mariners are hoping that Wilson hits his career norms of a .268 batting average with a .684 OPS. Wilson played in 105 games at SS last season and he made 12 errors while showing good range. If Wilson stays healthy in 2010 for the Mariners he might win a Gold Glove because he is that good defensively.

28-year old righty swinging Josh Wilson played in 45 games for the Mariners last season and he was 32 for 128 (.250 avg, .692 OPS) with 16 runs scored, 3 homers, 10 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Wilson played in 72 games overall last season with the Mariners & D-Backs & Padres and he was 42 for 192 (.219 avg, .612 OPS) with 19 runs scored, 3 homers, 13 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Wilson made 6 errors in 55 games last season while showing good range.

33-year old righty swinging Chris Woodward will also battle for a roster spot this spring. He played in 20 games for the Mariners last season and he was 16 for 67 (.239 avg, .542 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 5 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Woodward played in 33 games overall for the Mariners & Red Sox last season and he was 17 for 79 (.215 avg, .520 OPS) with 7 runs scored, 5 RBIs and 1 stolen base. Woodward didn’t make any errors in 5 games at SS last season but he showed poor range.
