The Seattle Mariners outright three pitchers to AAA
The Mariners have outrighted pitchers Jared Wells, Joe Woerman and Jake Woods to AAA making them all free agents. Wells is a 27-year old righty who pitched in 8 games (0 starts) with the Mariners and Padres last season. In those games, Wells was 0-0 with a 8.64 ERA and a 2.16 WHIP. 25-year old righty Joe Woerman pitched in 26 games (21 starts) last season in AA+AAA ball last season and he was 3-11 with a 6.69 ERA and a 1.84 WHIP. He allowed a whopping 134 hits and walked 87 batters in only 117 innings and that just didn’t get it done. 27-year old lefty Jake Woods is by far the best of these three pitchers. He pitched in 15 games (0 starts) for the Mariners last season and he was 0-0 with a 6.16 ERA and a 1.74 WHIP. Woods pitched three seasons for the Mariners covering 56 games (8 starts) in which he was 7-4 with 1 save, a 4.61 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP. The Mariners needed to get rid of these three guys to hopefully make some smart moves before spring training.
