The Mariners have placed righty starting pitcher Felix Hernandez on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained ankle. This will hurt the Mariners big time as Hernandez is the only starting pitcher the team can depend on. Hernandez has started 16 games for the Mariners this season and he is 6-5 with a 2.83 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. The Mariners have recalled 23-year old lefty reliever Cesar Jimenez to replace Hernandez on the roster. Jimenez has pitched in 29 games in the minors this season and he is 1-3 with 3 saves, a 3.55 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. Jimenez has whiffed 47 batters in only 37 innings which shows that he has nasty stuff.
