Kenji Johjima is hitting the ball well for the Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have not been hitting well as a team, but you can’t blame Johjima for that.  He’s doing his part as he’s played in 13 games this season and he’s 15 for 41 (.366 avg, .995 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 1 homer and 3 RBIs.  He would have better production numbers if some of his buddies on the team were hitting a little better.

Richie Sexson needs to work on his batting average for the Seattle Mariners

Richie Sexson is off to a tough start to the season for the Seattle Mariners.  He’s played in 15 games so far this season and he’s only 8 for 50 (.160 avg, .703 OPS) with 4 runs scored, 3 homers and 11 RBIs.  Sexson has been all or nothing this season as he is obviously swinging for the fences and that’s why he’s whiffed 15 times already this season.

The Seattle Mariners have a week to forget

The Mariners went 0-6 last week and they were outscored 43-22!  It’s a lethal combination to not hit the ball well as a team when your team in throwing batting practice…..and that’s what the Mariners did last week.  They are now in last place in the American League West, 2 games behind the Angels and A’s.

The Seattle Mariners place Felix Hernandez on the DL

Blogged under Front Page, Injuries, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Saturday 21 April 2007 at 10:54 pm

Felix Hernandez will likely miss 2-3 starts with a strain in his pitching elbow.  He has pitched great so far this season as he’s 2-1 with a 1.56 ERA.  In his three starts this season he’s thrown 17.1 innings and only has allowed 6 hits and he has whiffed 18 batters.  The Mariners are likely to call right Cha Seung Baek up to take Hernandez’ spot in the rotation.

Jeff Weaver has been inept for the Seattle Mariners so far

Blogged under Front Page, Pitching BP, Bloglockers by chinmusic on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 10:25 pm

Jeff Weaver has been absolutely awful in his first two starts of the season.  He’s 0-2 with a 15.75 ERA and a 2.50 WHIP so far this season!  He’s only lasted 8 innings in his two starts and he’s allowed 17 hits and 14 earned runs!  The Mariners gave him a lot of money in the off season and he doesn’t look very interested in pitching as he appears to be throwing a lot of fat pitches so far.  The bad thing for the Mariners is that they have to keep pitching him because he makes $8 million bucks.
